Tales From The Front

Over on Vanity Fair today, journalist Todd Pardum relays a collection of truly disturbing stories from the remnants of Team McCain following the selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. Among the highlights are quotes from McCain staffers who quietly referred to Palin as a “diva,” “whackjob,” and a “Little Shop of Horrors” for her oft-erratic demeanor on the campaign trail.

All in all, Pardum’s piece indicates what many of us suspected about Palin shortly after her national unveiling in Ohio in August '08: she was in way, way over head.

Hat Tip: Countdown.

Long Dong Silver Rides Again

If the following doesn’t prove that Clarence Thomas is easily the most arch-conservative judge on the Supreme Court’s current lineup, I don’t know what does vis-à-vis his lone dissent in an 8-1 court decision rejecting an Arizona public school’s legal right (under the Fourth Amendment) to strip search a 13 year-old girl for an ibuprofen under it's zero tolerance policy on drugs.

I'm surprised that Thomas didn't also suggest the constitution gives schools the right to secretly videotape girls showering after gym class to make sure none are hiding a wicked Flintstones vitamin between their sweet, nubile breasts.

The Sanctity of Life

And bear in mind this is a fight the GOP has been fighting for 50 years now.

Two More From Sullivan

Below are two more postings from Andrew Sullivan, who IMO is doing an outstanding job of gathering bits of news from the current government crackdown in Iran.

The stories are here and here, although be advised the latter includes graphic news footage of a young woman named Neda shot dead by state police in Tehran, and who is quickly becoming a martyr for the overthrow of the current regime.
