After going back and forth for a while over being in the right mood to see it, I finally threw down and saw Pixar's much-lauded, latest animated feature "Up" yesterday, and walked out with mixed feelings.
Yes, "Up" is a bittersweet film about loss and moving on, and while it has it's little charms I can sum up my final response with the following: Pete Docter is no John Lassetter. And while "Up" is a clear improvement over the former's "Monsters, Inc." in terms of storytelling, it left me wanting more overall balance.
